LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- What if you could prevent a loved one from hearing the words, "You have cancer"? By joining Cancer Prevention Study-3, you can do just that.
Tim Osterholm with the American Cancer Society talked with THV's Ashley Blackstone more about the study and what it is doing in the fight against cancer.
You are eligible to enroll if you:
- are between the ages of 30 and 65;
- have never been diagnosed with cancer;
- are willing to make a long-term commitment to the study.
Anyone not meeting those criteria is urged to ask others to enroll.
First, simply visit http://cps3centralark.org or http://cps3conway.org today to sign up if you are eligible.
Central Arkansas' final enrollment occurs August 6-10 at four locations:
- Antioch Baptist Church
- Conway Public Library
- Conway Regional Medical Center
- Greenbrier City Event Center
The study needs at least 300,000 adults from various racial and ethnic backgrounds across the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
CPS-3 will help the professionals better understand what factors cause cancer, and once they know that, they can be better equipped to prevent cancer.
