Liz's first official fishing and boating trip with Cruz

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- This week's 'Fishin' with Liz' is a family affair. Liz's mom, dad, aunt, husband and little boy Cruz all headed up to the White River and Gaston's Resort.

And before they headed out, they had to do some practice fishing with Cruz. And it got pretty interesting, especially for her mom!

In the video, you'll see Cruz practicing his cast with his grandma. She has a hold of his shirt because she doesn't want him to fall in the water. He's very excited and has a great grip on the rod and a pretty good throw but Liz's mom probably needed a helmet. Don't worry, there wasn't a hook on the line just a bobber so no one got hurt. After Cruz got in his practice it was time for the fishing trip.

They fished at Gaston's Resort on the White River. Liz's mom and dad both caught some nice trout. So did her Aunt. She lives in Taiwan and this is her first trip to the states so, of course they had to take her fishing.

And Liz caught some nice trout as well. Their guides Paul and Wes kept them busy catching trout. They probably caught about 50 trout that morning.

And Liz also caught on video a quick clip of her husband Keith and Cruz reeling in a very nice rainbow. Cruz really did help reel this one in. And yes, apparantely a pacifer helps catch the big ones, she's still working on that! Anyways, Cruz wasn't really too sure about the trout but he had a lot of fun.

It was a great family fishing trip. Jim Gaston and his guides helped them make some great families memories.
