LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Some students spent Election Day learning the importance of America's voting process, and they did so in old-fashioned attire.

First and second graders at ittle Rock Montessori School dressed up as historical figures and other symbols of American history as voters went to the polls Tuesday.
Among the characters represented, there was a bald eagle, a pilgrim, and Betsy Ross.

Elvada Ward, Little Rock Montessori teacher, said they're teaching tolerance and responsibility.

"We talked about who was important in elections and we really have a legacy from the pilgrims," Ward said. "And we continue that freedom, as our most important right."

Parents and teachers worked together on making the costumes.
