HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) - A Garland County inmate who escaped custody while being treated at a Hot Springs hospital now faces a felony escape charge.

Authorities say 21-year-old Jerrod Michael Cox was at Mercy Hospital Hot Springs on Oct. 24 for treatment of an undisclosed medical problem when he apparently walked out.

The Sentinel-Record reports that Cox was arrested Friday during a traffic stop in Garland County.

Cox had been in custody on misdemeanor counts of failure to appear.

Authorities say he now faces charges of third-degree escape. He's being held on $50,000 bond and has a court date set for Dec. 18. Authorities did not know if he had any attorney.
