EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) - A southern Arkansan arrested in the shooting death of a 25-year-old El Dorado man appeared in court Wednesday.
According to a Union County District Court clerk, 47-year-old Joe Perry was in court for his first appearance after being charged with First-Degree Murder.
Perry was assigned a court appointed attorney and is currently being held in in lieu of $250,000 bond.
Perry is charged in the shooting death of Jeremy Thompson.
El Dorado police said they were called to Thompson's home about a disturbance on Friday night. When officers arrived, they found Thompson, who appeared to have been shot. Authorities took him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities said Perry was taken into custody at the scene.
Perry's next court appearance will be Jan. 24, 2013.
