Copper theft reported at area church

LONOKE, Ark. (KTHV) - The Lonoke County Sheriff's Office is investigating a copper theft at an area church.

A person or persons entered New Beginning Mission Church through the back door and stripped the copper wiring from frame work, according to a press release from Lt. Jim Kulesa.

The church, located on Highway 294 in Lonoke, is under construction, as it is adding an extension to the building. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between Sunday and Wednesday morning.

The cost of replacing and repairing the wires is estimated at $2,500. Anyone with information on this case or who may have seen anything suspicious in the area during that time is asked to contact the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office at (501) 676-3000.
