MORRILTON, Ark. (KTHV) - The winter weather shut down many roads for days, but in Morrilton, a different story unfolded.
Mayor Stewart Nelson said the city's street department had crews ready to go days before the storm.
"They started at 11 o'clock on Christmas night plowing the streets, and by 7 o'clock the night morning... Wednesday morning... All the streets were open," said Mayor Nelson. "All the intersections that needed to be sanded, were sanded and were all set for people to carry on their business like they normally had."
Mayor Nelson credited the city's street department and the state highway department for working together to get the job done quickly.
He said as for cost, it's about getting the people back out on the street and figuring out where the money comes from later.
