Hempstead, NY (Sports Network) - Taran Buie recorded a game-high 24 points as
the Hofstra Pride defeated the William & Mary Tribe, 70-59, in Colonial
Athletic Association action at the Mack Sports Complex.
Buie was 8-of-17 from the floor for William & Mary (5-11, 2-1 CAA) in the
victory. Stevie Mejia was one assist shy of a double-double with 14 points.
David Imes was two rebounds short of a double-double with 10 points as Hofstra
won for the second time in the last three games.
For the Tribe (7-8, 1-3), Brandon Britt recorded a team-high 21 points and
four assists. Marcus Thornton scored 17 points and Kyle Gaillard chipped in 10
points as William & Mary recorded it's fifth straight loss.
Hofstra was 12-of-28 from the floor, while limiting the Tribe to a mere 6-
of-22 shooting and 1-of-11 from 3-point range in the first half. The Tribe
trailed the Pride 27-17 at halftime.
Hofstra knocked down 55 percent from the floor including 4-of-9 from long
range while limiting the Tribe to 39.4 percent from the floor including 3-
of-14 from beyond the arc.
Hofstra kept the lead for the entire game, shooting 47.9 percent from the
floor while limiting the Tribe to a mere 4-of-25 from beyond the arc on the
day.
