NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A woman suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested after she crashed her car two times with four children in her vehicle.
According to Officer Justin W. Cross with the North Little Rock Police department, Lily Marie Thompson, 46, is charged with endangering the welfare of a minor after she first crashed her 1995 Mercury Sable into an electrical utility pole, tried to get back on the roadway and then ran her car into a privacy fence.
Cross said the crashes happened on the corner of Boyer Street and Middle Street.
He said he realized that Thompson might have been driving under the influence of alcohol when he saw that she had watery, blood-shot eyes; was unsteady on her feet; had the odor of alcohol on her breath; and had slurred speech. He said she was also unable to provide an exact account of the crashes how they happened or the cause behind them.
Thompson refused to submit to an alcohol breath test, he said.
The children inside the vehicle did not sustain any major injuries, he added. Their ages were 4, 6, 7, and 5. All of them had on a shoulder and lap belt, but two of them actually required child safety seats.
The children's' mother came to the scene as soon as she was called, and all of them were treated without having to be sent to the hospital.
