BENTON, Ark. (KTHV) - A Benton man faces nine theft charges, among other offenses, after an incident Thursday at an area hotel.
Benton police responded to a theft report at America's Best Inn, 1221 Highway 5 South, where the clerk said the suspect was still on scene. Officers located the suspect, later identified as Brian Byrum, 26, and spoke with him about the incident. Through their investigation it was determined that Byrum was responsible for the initial theft and also additional thefts and vehicle break-ins at the Best Western Motel located nearby.
Detectives were able to locat a majority of the property that was stolen and returned it to the owners.
Byrum was arrested and charged with four counts of Breaking or Entering, nine counts of Theft of Property, and one count of Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property. Byrum is on probation out of the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections and had active warrants out of Benton and five other agencies at the time of his arrest. He was transported to the Saline County Detention Facility for processing without incident.
