ST. FRANCIS CO., Ark. (KTHV) - A convicted murder who skipped out on his sentencing court date is back in custody.
Tiva Amos with the St. Francis County Sheriff's Department says, "We would like to thank everyone for getting the word out about Mr. Anthony Millbrooks. With the help of the media Mr. Millbrooks is now in custody."
Amos says Millbrooks turned himself into the Jonesboro Police Dept. and is now facing second degree escape charges.
Millbrooks pleaded guilty to first-degree murder two weeks ago. Judge L.T. Simes let him out and ordered him to return for sentencing last Thursday, but Millbrooks never showed.
Sheriff Bobby May of St. Francis County said he has no idea why Circuit Judge L.T. Simes would release convicted murderer Anthony Millbrooks ten days before sentencing him to 22 years in prison.
Millbrooks is convicted of shooting and killing 33-year-old Deadrick Crawford in 2010.
