SHERWOOD, Ark. (KTHV) - A Sherwood man allegedly broke into a home and raped a woman at knifepoint.
Sherwood police were called to a home on Ridgelea Avenue Aug. 30 in reference to a rape. When the officers arrived they saw the screen pulled off an open window on the front of the house.
Once inside the officers saw blood on the floor, walls, and furniture. They also noticed shoe prints in the blood and a roll of duct tape.
The woman who let the officers in said her daughter, an adult, had just been raped and stabbed. The victim was sitting on the bed in one of the bedrooms with stab wounds to her arm as well as possible stab wounds to her left side.
The victim told police that a man she knew as Thad Lewis, later identified as Thaddeus Collier, had gotten into the house, placed duct tape over her mouth and held a knife to her throat during the incident. She says he also threatened her family.
Police followed a foot track through her yard and into the backyard of a house across the street. The foot track then led through the backyard on Ridgelea to a fence of a home on Ann Street, where a fire was burning.
Officers entered the backyard and noticed some white clothing burning and while searching the yard, they found a knife with blood on it.
Police surrounded the home and as the house was evacuated Collier's parents said he was inside armed with a gun. Collier eventually came out and was arrested.
He is charged with aggravated rape, aggravated residential burglary, first degree terroristic threatening, and possession of firearms by certain persons.
Lt. Michaels with Sherwood Police says the victim sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
