LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Arkansas Travelers unveiled a new logo at the Home Plate entrance of Dickey-Stephens Park.
The new Traveler logo shows a horse with a windblown main swirling around the A. The change means new uniforms, a new mascot, and a whole new look next season.
The approximately 300 fans who gathered for the event, gave it favorable reviews, as did Drew Height, a Traveler outfielder.
"I think it's great, I think getting a new a new outfit for the Travelers is a great thing for us," Height said. "It definitely gets the fans riled up for it and that's what we always love."
The new logo comes after the Travs' former mascot of 17 years retired in August.
According to the Arkansas Travelers' website, "The new identity pays tribute to the Travelers' 112 year-old storied tradition of being Arkansas's home state team.
The centerpiece of the identity is a new horse head chiseled from Arkansas State Capitol Building limestone. Several logos feature elements from the iconic Arkansas flag, and a new Sleeve Emblem marks the Travs 1901 foundation and the team's famous slogan, "Greatest Game on Dirt." Fans will also enjoy the inclusion of a legendary creature, an omen known to bringing good luck that will be released at a later date."
The new uniforms featuring the team's Swamp Camo will be revaled at a later date, prior to the season opening in April 2014.
Merchandise featuring the Travs new look will be available on October 24th at Dickey-Stephens Park and online at www.Travs.com.
