Fort Worth, TX (Sports Network) - Jimmie Johnson increased his points lead to
seven over Brad Keselowski in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship after
winning Sunday's AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Johnson, the pole sitter, passed Keselowski for the lead with less than two
laps remaining and then held off Keselowski at the finish by 0.8 seconds for
his second consecutive win. The five-time Sprint Cup Series champion led the
most laps with 168, which allowed him to earn a total of five bonus points for
the victory.
Last week, Johnson won at Martinsville Speedway after starting on the pole and
leading the most laps. He entered the 500-mile race at Texas with a two-point
advantage over Keselowski.
Kyle Busch finished third, while Matt Kenseth and Tony Stewart completed the
top-five.
Just two races remain in the Chase -- Phoenix (Nov. 11) and Homestead (Nov.
18).
