MAGNOLIA, Ark. (SAU) - Southern Arkansas softball coach Corey Lyon has announced nine signees that will join the Lady Mulerider program, with all committing during the early signing period in November. The class includes two transfers and seven members from the high school ranks.
Transferring in to SAU are Chelsea Ivy (Bloomburg, Texas), an infielder/pitcher out of Bossier Parish (La.) Community College, and Leigha Doyle (Humble, Texas), an infielder from Galveston (Texas) College.
High school signees include pitchers Maylie Bain (Searcy Harding Academy) and Miranda Cuff (Clarksdale, Miss., Delta Academy), infielder Maddy Dow (Bonham, Texas, Sam Rayburn) , catcher Jasmin Gipson (Van, Texas), outfielders Brooke Goad (Waxahachie, Texas), and Brittney Johnson (Mineola, Texas), and combo pitcher/infielder Shelby Miller (Brazoria, Texas, Sweeny).
"We are extremely excited about the addition of these nine young ladies to our softball program," stated Lyon. "We wanted mainly to focus on adding depth at the pitching position and around the infield, and not only were we able to do that, but we were able to sign some very good kids at other positions."
"We feel like this could be one of the strongest recruiting classes ever at SAU," added Lyon. "These young ladies will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact at SAU and in the Great American Conference."
