Mickey Hammer earns USTFCCCA Division II Men's Cross Country All-Academic honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. (SAU) - Southern Arkansas senior men's cross country runner Mickey Hammer has been lauded with 2012 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II Men's Cross Country All-Academic honors as it was announced by the organization on Monday.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team in Division II, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or greater through the most-recent semester, completed at least 12 credit hours in the semester of cross country competition, and placed in the top 50 percent at the most recent NCAA National Championships or in the top 30 percent at the NCAA Regional Championships.
Hammer, an Exercise Science major with a 3.61 G.P.A, is now a three-time recipient of this distinguished academic honor. A four-time member of Southern Arkansas' Dean's List (3.5 G.P.A), Hammer has also made the President's List (4.0 G.P.A.). Hammer has been a member of the Health, Kinesiology, and Recreation Club since 2010 and served as the club's president in 2011 and 2012.
Athletically, Hammer was the Great American Conference's individual champion and Runner of the Year this past season. Hammer, who hold school records in the 5K, 8K, and 10K (CC & Track), is also a three-time all-region runner.
