LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Something new is sprouting for the Special Olympics-a special art show.
The athletes themselves created wonderful paintings and sculptures, and Monday they went on sale. All proceeds went to Special Olympics.
When the call went out for artwork, the athletes responded by producing over 120 works, which is far more than organizers expected, and executive director Terri Weir thinks she knows why.
"I think the art teachers were able to communicate with their special students in the classrooms and be able to highlight those skills in another way, and I think it was just a special, special time for all," Weir said.
The event was held Monday night at the Thea Foundation Gallery in North Little Rock.
