FRISCO, Texas - Central Arkansas freshman Krizia Buck earned Southland Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.
Buck finished off the regular season on a strong note as she picked up a pair of wins while Central Arkansas knocked off Stephen F. Austin.
The freshman from New Braunfels, Texas (Keystone National H.S.), rallied from a set down to defeat Valeria Terentyeva of Stephen F. Austin 1-6, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 4 singles. Buck teamed up with Sasha Ruocco to down Kateryna Bugayenko and Terentyeva in No. 2 doubles, 8-2, while UCA downed the Ladyjacks , 6-1, and clinched the No. 8 seed in the Southland Women's Tennis Championship.
Central Arkansas finished the regular season with a 12-13 mark while going 3-6 in conference action. Buck sports an 11-8 record in No. 4 singles competition.
Honorable mention this week goes to Southeastern Louisiana freshman Reginka Nychytailova. To receive honorable mention, a player must receive votes from 25 percent of the Southland sports information directors.
Each school's sports information director nominates and votes for the player of the week, though is not permitted to vote for his or her own player.
