ALVA, Okla. (ATU) - The middle duo of senior Sara Motsinger and sophomore Katie Huff each had seven kills on 14 attempts as the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns (17-9, 6-3 GAC) swept the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers (4-17, 1-8 GAC) 3-0 tonight in Alva, Okla.
"We've had a great week of volleyball," said head coach Kristy Bayer. "I was proud of the way we maintained focus during each set this week. We didn't let up."
The Golden Suns took all three sets with confidence, taking set one 25-14, set two 25-21, and set three with 25-20. Arkansas Tech outhit Northwestern Oklahoma in set one .206 to .054.
Junior Emily Todd led the team with 12 kills and five service aces. She also added 12 digs. Senior Amber Cerrillos dished out 31 assists and two service aces, adding ten digs.
"Cerrillos did a great job delivering the offense today and making decisions," said Bayer. "Todd had a great week as well. Her steady play offensively, defensively, and in serve receive has contributed to our success this week."
Sophomore Morgan McKellar finished with 15 digs. Huff added four blocks to the match, while Todd had three.
The Golden Suns will travel to Monticello, Ark. on Tuesday, October 29 for a 6 p.m. conference match-up against Arkansas-Monticello.
