Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - A pair of free throws by C.J Harris with
under five seconds to play gave Wake Forest a bit of breathing room as the
Demon Deacons captured a 75-72 win over the Boston College Eagles in ACC
action at Lawrence Joel Coliseum.
Harris finished with a game-high 29 points, shooting 10-of-13 from the floor,
including 4-of-6 behind the 3-point line for the Demon Deacons (9-6, 2-1 ACC)
as they logged their fifth win in the last six outings. Travis McKie added 18
points and Devin Thomas a game-high 11 rebounds for the hosts.
The Eagles (9-7, 1-2), losers of two of the last three, were paced by Lonnie
Jackson who dropped in 23 points, followed by Olivier Hanlan and Ryan Anderson
with 18 and 12 points, respectively, the latter also pulling down 10 rebounds.
Both teams shot better than 51 percent from the floor in the first half and
also knocked down five shots from beyond the arc, and even though the Eagles
had a 5-3 advantage at the free-throw line it was Wake Forest that carried a
38-36 lead into the break.
In the second half Boston College made a total of just seven field goals, but
the team remained close thanks to a 20-of-26 effort at the charity stripe. In
the end it was a pair of conversions by Harris at the line that kept BC from
coming back in the waning moments.
In a game that featured six ties and seven lead changes, the Eagles turned the
ball over 17 times which became 17 points for the hosts.
