San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - Jorden Page led all scorers with 19
points as the Saint Mary's Gaels held off a late push by the San Francisco
Dons to claim a 67-63 West Coast Conference victory at Memorial Gymnasium.
Brad Waldow scored 13 points for Saint Mary's (18-4, 7-1 WCC), while Mitchell
Young, Matthew Dellavedova, and Stephen Holt poured in nine points apiece.
Holt added 14 rebounds for the Gaels, who have won a season-high six straight
games.
Cody Doolin netted 16 points for San Francisco (9-13, 2-7), which has lost two
in a row and seven of its last nine. De'End Parker had 12 points, Avry Holmes
chipped in 10 points, and Cole Dickerson tallied nine points and 11 rebounds.
Saint Mary's outshot San Francisco from the field in the first half, 46.7
percent to 36 percent, as it took a comfortable 37-23 advantage into
intermission.
The Gaels extended their lead to 16 with just 6:11 left in the game, but the
Dons made things interesting by ripping off a 22-8 run to bring their deficit
to just two, 65-63, with 10 seconds to play. Page iced the game for Saint
Mary's however, making a pair of free throws in the waning seconds.
Saint Mary's dominated the battle of the boards by a 44-22 margin, and
although the Dons committed just nine turnovers, the Gaels took advantage with
18 points off of those miscues.
