Corvallis, OR (Sports Network) - Josh Huestis posted 20 points and 11 rebounds
as the Stanford Cardinal secured an 82-72 win over the Oregon State Beavers in
Pac-12 Conference play at Gill Coliseum.
Also logging a double-double for Stanford (16-11, 7-7 Pac-12) was Dwight
Powell with 14 points and 11 rebounds as the team snapped a two-game slide.
Andy Brown and Chasson Randle both tallied 13 points and Aaron Bright 12 to go
along with six assists for the visitors.
The Beavers (13-14, 3-11) were paced by Roberto Nelson who erupted for a game-
high 28 points, but shot just 1-of-9 behind the 3-point line as OSU lost for
the third time in four games. Joe Burton accounted for 16 points, eight
rebounds and four assists, while Eric Moreland logged a double-double with 11
points and a team-best 11 rebounds in the setback.
A close game throughout the first half, Stanford failed to make a single
appearance at the free-throw line, but still the squad was within a point at
the break, 35-34.
In the second half that all changed for the Cardinal as it made good on 14-
of-21 at the charity stripe, not to mention 50 percent from the floor overall
in order to secure the double-digit win.
In a game that featured three ties and nine lead changes, Oregon State came up
small on the perimeter as it converted a mere 2-of-15 beyond the arc on the
night.
