Amanda has been a news junkie since she was 8-years-old. She regularly hooked up her karaoke machine and presented daily newscasts to her parents and dogs in her living room.
Her passion for news and current events led her to complete a degree in Political Science and Communications at the University of Central Missouri where she graduated as the top female undergraduate. After graduating, Amanda also taught classes at the University of Kansas while spending a year working towards an advanced degree.
Her life took a big shift after that first year of graduate work when she won the title of Miss Kansas 2014 and competed at the Miss America Pageant. Her year as Miss Kansas led to many opportunities including speaking and performing for thousands of people across the country while promoting various causes aimed at preventing suicide, empowering women, and being an ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. She was named a top finalist at Miss America for her dedication to service.
While Miss Kansas, Amanda was a regular guest host for Wichita's Brett & Sierra show. That position led her to a full time job as a Traffic Reporter for KWCH 12. Within eight months, Amanda moved up to an anchor position. While Kansas will always hold a special place in her heart, Amanda is thrilled to now be an Anchor/Reporter in Little Rock! She would love your story ideas and also to know your favorite places in Arkansas. You can email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Amanda is married to Mitchell, a Starbucks store manager, so she's a big coffee fan. Funny story - they first met at a Starbucks! She also loves basset hounds, tennis, singing, and serving her church.
