The library edition of the Reading Road Trip has begun, and what a way to kick it off: with a trip to Sheridan, Arkansas.

The library edition of the Reading Road Trip has begun, and what a way to kick it off: with a trip to Sheridan, Arkansas.

The Grand County Library staged its 9th annual pet show and stuffed toy parade to being their Summer Reading Program, which is chocked full of surprises and games and incentives.

Before the parade, Craig read “Bernie the One Eyed Dog,” and then each child received a free copy courtesy of the Stahoviak Foundation of Heber Springs.

Next was the pet show which was full of cute kids and cute dogs, and a rabbit named Blaze, along with an inchworm named Bookworm.

But, the winning pet, in a runaway, was a 19-week Goldendoodle named Cooper. He is the pride of the family including a Mom who confessed she doesn't care for dogs.

Despite that ironic fact, this mom has the pet of the year in Grant County and the library has a new list of registered summer readers.

The signups go on through mid-July. Click here to learn more about the Grant County Library Summer Reading Program.
