Little Rock Zoo's sloth bear cub 'Zaara' is turning one year old

Guests can join Zaara for her birthday celebration at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — One of the Little Rock Zoo's sloth bear cubs, Zaara, is turning one year old on Saturday, January 11!

Everyone is invited to the Zoo at 11 a.m. to wish Zaara a happy birthday. Her party will be flannel and bear lodge-themed and held indoors in Café Africa. Starting at 11:30 a.m., guests can enjoy cake and refreshments!

Café Africa will also feature a specially priced meal of soup and/or salad and/or a sandwich for just $7.

The special celebration will include a story time by the fireplace, bear keeper chats, craft-making, hot chocolate, and s'mores. They'll also have a slide show of Zaara's first year.

It's all included in the price of admission!

The Little Rock Zoo was one of only two zoos in North America to have a sloth bear cub birth. Of the 40 sloth bears housed in Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) accredited Zoos in the United States, the Little Rock Zoo has four of them; that’s 10%!
