CABOT, Ark. (KTHV)- The city of Cabot is getting a new playground but it's far from your typical swing set and monkey bars.
Executive director for Cabot Parks and Recreation, Travis Young, said "Play Without Limits" will be one of the biggest all-inclusive playgrounds in Arkansas.
“We're doing a complete renovation and we're on phase one of our renovation which includes an all-inclusive playground here at the Richie Road Park,” he said.
Young said there will be 28 play elements on the playground.
“Twelve of the elements will be ground level; there will be slides, roller slides, and even swings with the five-point harness,” he said.
Jessica Rascoe, said this playground will mean the world to her son who has cerebral palsy.
“His name is Anthony and he's five. I think it's great for the communities of Cabot, Austin, Ward and even Beebe,” Rascoe said.
Monica Barfield said the new park will allow her grandson, Cameron, to play along with his friends and siblings.
“He's eight years old and he had a heart transplant at four months old and he's a two time ecmo baby,” Barfield said.
She said the playground will allow no limits, no boundaries.
“There will be no having to pick them up and put them on and they won't have to just watch the other kids play, they’ll be able to interact and be a normal kid,” she said.
The ground breaking ceremony for the playground will 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9 at Richie Road park and it should be finished sometime this summer.
