Plants keep color inside homes year-round | Today's Home

Chris H. Olsen tells us how to keep color inside our homes year-round.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - You know a lot of you out there are like Chris Olsen. You’re so busy that you can’t even get out in the garden to plant flowers and that type of thing.

We spend all of our waking hours inside the house besides sleeping of course. You can have flowers and color inside year-round. That’s what Chris did for himself because it makes him happy. For example, just in the kitchen he had so many different varieties of flowers.

He has a beautiful lace cap blue Hydrangea. It’s next to this pink blooming Jasmine which is an outside vine but he brought it in for now when it blooms he will have this beautiful sweet fragrance. So, it is not just about color, it’s also about scent.

He got this yellow Gerber Daisy next to this beautiful purple Orchid and foliage plants. Then he also has fresh flowers in the house as well on the dining room table he always inexpensive Alstroemeria in bloom because it puts a smile on his face and anybody who comes to the house as well. It always looks warm and inviting.

Then he has these little teenie pots of orange colancho it doesn't have to be a big pot. Again, it’s not just about the flowers it is about the foliage color. He’s got these tee-color bromeliads, these purple throat bromeliads and then he’s got different types of Lime dracena next to this beautiful Spatifilum.

All these different plants mixed together bring not only color into the house and texture but also absorbs the poisons and toxins that are in the air to make a healthier environment for you.
