Body found in Searcy creek said to have been there 'weeks, possibly months'

Searcy police were dispatched to a creek behind a house on Jan. 26 where they found a deceased human body.

SEARCY, Ark. — On Saturday, Jan. 26, the Searcy Police Department received a call in reference to a "deceased human body" in a creek behind a home. When officers arrived, they were able to confirm the report.

The Searcy Police Department said the body is estimated to have been in the area "for weeks and possibly months.

The Arkansas State Crime Lab has determined that the body passed away due to a medical condition. There was no trauma to the body. 

The Searcy Police Department is continuing to work with the Crime Lab in an effort to obtaining an identity. 

Officials do know the body was of a black male. Once he is identified and the family is notified, they will release more information.
