LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Members of the Little Rock City Board joined people in the community for a candlelight vigil for a family murdered in their apartment.

24 year-old Mariah Cunningham, and two of her children; five year-old A’Layliah, and three year-old Elijah Fisher were brutally murdered inside their Southwest Little Rock Apartment on Tuesday.

The question about who killed the family remains unanswered, so the community came together Saturday night, asking for anyone to come forward with information.

"We just wanted the family and friends know they not forgotten and we will put our support and loving arms around the family,” Arkansas Stop the Violence Rev. Benny Johnson said.

Johnson held the vigil with other pastors and members of the city government while praying and singing “Amazing Grace.” Little Rock Police officers were also in attendance.

"It was an unhuman act. It was a monster's act and it was a barbaric act and we just want them off the street to make our street a whole lot safer,” Rev. Johnson said.

Ken Richardson of Ward 2 says the violence happening in his ward needs to come to an end, so families like Mariah's don't have to experience such tragedy.

"It's just terrible. I can't find the words to explain my initial reaction,” Richardson said. “We don't want people to think that this is something that's normal in our community. I think it's an aberration."

While the search for who murdered the family continues, the community will continue to pray for these three as they struggle to make sense of the senseless.

"We need to treat this homicides like their own kid or own sister or brother and we just want to make sure that their not forgotten,” Rev. Johnson said.

The Little Rock Police Department said it is still searching for a suspect.

LRPD Lt. Ford said the homicide detectives are not releasing much information at this time.
