Police are working to identify a suspect after a 10-year-old girl said she was snatched while walking to the bus stop and sexually assaulted.

According to police, the assault happened the morning of September 29 in Mozley Park.

After the girl was snatched, she was taken along a trial in Mozley Park where she said the assault happened.

Police released this sketch of the suspect.

He is described as a light skinned black male with a short black afro, mustache, thick eyebrows, brown eyes, earrings in both ears and has a cut on his eyebrow. He also had tattoos on his left arm and appeared to be in his early 20s.

At the time of the assault the suspect wore a tan sweater with a white shirt underneath, blue jeans and all white Jordan shoes.

Detectives said the investigation has taken a while to progress because specially-trained investigators were needed to conduct an interview with the girl, due to her age. She was able to give them enough detailed information to produce the police sketch.

"We need the public's help in this case, definitely," investigators said during a Tuesday press conference.

Since the incident, police have stepped up their patrol in the area and are urging children to walk in the area in groups until the suspect is caught. And the fact that there might be a predator living in the area has some residents shaken.

"Somebody needs to turn him in," one woman told 11Alive. "A child can't defend themselves, so an adult needs to step up."

Any information on the case can be submitted anonymously to the Crime Stoppers Atlanta tip line at 404-577-TIPS (8477), online www.crimestoppersatlanta.org or by texting CSA and the tip to CRIMES (274637). Persons do not have to give their name or any identifying information to be eligible for the reward of up to $2,000.
