LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) — A 24-year-old woman was shot last night after she was caught in cross fire between two shooters in the parking lot of Cedar Ridge West apartments, according to police. She was treated at UAMS for her injuries.

Asia Monique Witchard told police she was picking up a friend at 5517 West 51st St. on Dec. 21 when two people were exchanging gunfire. She then drove her friend to Goodwill Industries at West 65th and Interstate 30 before driving herself to UAMS while calling 911.

Little Rock police were dispatched to the area based on an anonymous call reporting nine shots fired at the complex. The caller described a black male with short hair walking toward the apartment complex. While officers were on their way, dispatch told them a female caller had called 911 and said she had been shot at 65th Street and Geyer Springs Road.

She told dispatch she had pulled over at Paper Moon and police redirected to help her, but she was not there when they arrived. Police then went in search of the woman at local hospitals and found her at UAMS. They impounded her car as evidence and investigated the scene of the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
