LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - Join Tyler West with the Arkansas Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for "SafeTALK," a training for professionals on Suicide Prevention and Intervention.
West serves as the AFSP Public Policy and Public Relations Chair. He has been a volunteer board member of AFSP, was fundraising chair for the Arkansas Chapter for the last five years, and has chaired the Arkansas Out of the Darkness Community Walk in Little Rock for six years.
The Arkansas Walk has become one of the nation's top walks during West's term as chair. West currently serves on the AFSP National Public Policy Council helping to build suicide prevention legislation on both federal and state levels.
West was born in South Arkansas and attended the University of Mississippi and the University of Central Arkansas. West worked in Congress prior to returning home to Arkansas. While working in Congress, he was instrumental in several pieces of health care legislation enacted into law sponsored by Congressman Mike Ross (AR-4). Upon returning home, West carried his passion for healthcare parity with him.
