How much rain will Little Rock get from remnants of Barry

Heavy rain is expected to come to the Little Rock metro, causing possible flash flooding in the area through Tuesday afternoon.

As the remnants of Tropical Storm Barry makes rainfall in Louisiana, Arkansans are wondering how much rainfall the state will receive.

Tropical Depression Barry is churning through the natural state bringing a steady rain overnight, however dry air is invading from the southwest wrapping around the center of the system.

With the punch of dry air the rain will be more hit and miss rather than a batch of all day rain. Don’t be surprised to see some breaks of sun at times.

Tropical moisture will remain in place and with day time heating we should see scattered downpours pop-up over the area once again this afternoon and evening.

Tonight it is possible that a band of torrential rain will develop over part of the region in the early morning and tapering off Tuesday afternoon.

Flash flooding will be possible for areas that see a band of moderate to heavy rain that sits over the same area for a long period of time.

The chance of scattered showers and storms will continue through Tuesday and then finally by Wednesday we can say bye to bye Barry and the rain.

After the rain is done the heat comes back with a vengeance and with a wet ground the humidity will be oppressive.

Highs will soar into the low to mid 90s. The heat index will rise into the 105 to 110 degrees for some areas.

Heat advisories may be issued.
