BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) – This Sunday, the Logan Parker Memorial Scholarship Fund Cookout and Baggo Tournament is taking place in Bryant.
It’s the sixth annual event held in honor of former Bryant High School student, Logan Hayes Parker, who was killed in an accident on February 18, 2012. He was just 21 at the time of the accident.
A 2008 graduate of Bryant High School, Parker was the starting quarterback for the Hornets football team in the fall of 2007, passing for 2,111 yards and 23 touchdowns while leading the team to an 8-2-1 record and a 7A-Central Conference championship.
His friends and family organized the cookout and tournament six years ago to benefit a scholarship fund in Parker’s honor.
All proceeds benefit the Logan Parker Memorial Scholarship Fund at First Security Bank. The price to play is $30 per team (2 per team) in advance and $35 per team on the day of the tournament. Additional donations are accepted.
Through the tournament, the school has been able to give a total $14,000 in scholarships to students.
Prizes awarded include $200 for the 1st Place Adult Team and $100 for the 2nd Place Adult Team.
Food will be provided by Henson's Southern Traditions and Gina's Catering. There will also be a DJ, door prizes and a silent auction.
The event will be held on Sunday, May 21 at 2 p.m. at Bishop Park in Bryant. The park is located at 5401 Boone Road.
If you can’t make it but still want to donate, make checks payable to Logan Parker Scholarship P.O. Box 218, Bryant, AR 72089.
