BEEBE, Ark. (KTHV) – An Arkansas man was arrested on Monday after a shooting left a seven-year-old critically injured.

Around 8 p.m., the Beebe Police Department responded to a reported shooting on South Cypress Street. Upon arrival, officers observed a juvenile victim in the driveway of the residence with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was transported by helicopter to a local hospital and currently remains in critical condition.

According to police reports, 26-year-old Jeremiah Owens of Beebe was identified as a person of interest in the shooting investigation. He was arrested and charged with first degree battery.

Owens is being held in the White County Detention center on a $50,000 bond. His first court appearance is set for April 4 at 9 a.m. in the White County Circuit Court.
