WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (KTHV) – Arkansas State Police are investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting in West Memphis.

Shortly after 7 a.m. on Saturday, police were alerted to an armed robbery at a West Memphis motel when they encountered an individual matching the description of the robbery suspect. The suspect was later identified as 33-year-old Olugbalah Ridley of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Reports state that when local police approached Ridley on the 2000 block of Talonwood, he brandished a gun, leading police to fire at him. Ridley was pronounced dead at the scene. No police officers were wounded.

An investigation of the use of deadly force by police is continuing.
