MOUNTAIN VIEW, Ark. (AP) - Blanchard Springs Caverns plans to operate on a reduced schedule early next year.

The U.S. Forest Service says the caverns, located 15 miles northwest of Mountain View near the town of Fifty Six, Arkansas, will reduced its schedule from January through the end of February.

Tours through the Caverns' Dripstone Trail will be offered three times daily. Other tours may be added as needed. Wild Cave Tours will be offered on a reservation-only basis.

Through the winter months, Blanchard Springs Caverns is normally open five days a week Wednesdays through Sundays, and closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Visitors can watch a movie and tour the exhibit hall, which describes what they will see underground at the caverns. Books and gifts are available for purchase at the Eastern National gift shop.
