LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- Who’s ready for some football!?

The Arkansas Razorbacks are coming to town next week for their season opener and several other games are happening at War Memorial. After a fairly quiet summer, things are getting busy around the stadium. There will be a football game every day next week, except for Wednesday and Sunday.

“The mood around the stadium right now is just excitement,” said Interim Stadium Manager Shea Lewies. “Things start off with the Kickoff Classic, we've got two high school football games.”

But that's just the schedule for Monday and Tuesday of next week. Both nights have double headers. On Wednesday, the turn up really starts. The stadium gets a day off to rest, relax and prepare for the Arkansas Razorback season opener.

"I have been a Razorback fan since 1969 at the Texas vs. Arkansas game,” said Dell Black, one of many people who picked up their tickets from the stadium Thursday.

A week from now, the Razorbacks will play at War Memorial for what some fear may be the last time.

"I hate it. I love to go to games here, you're so close to field compared to Fayetteville. Fayetteville is great place, but Central Arkansas is such a good place to have games,” Black said.

Lewies said preparation for this week started well over a year ago.

“Everybody's excited just because it's the first of year. During the summer, there isn't much other than baseball. And there's lots of excitement for that first college game,” he said.

On Friday, Catholic High School plays Sylvan Hills at the stadium. Then on Saturday, tens of thousands of football fans will watch Bryant and Benton High Schools in the 2017 Salt Bowl.

“Scheduling for the Salt Bowl is already set for next year. The calendar is perpetual as things continue to come up,” said Lewies.

If you plan to attend the Razorback game next Thursday remember the University of Arkansas has a clear bag policy. You can bring a bag, but it must be transparent.
