CONWAY, Ark. (KTHV) – A Conway man was arrested on Thursday evening after a parent notified police about him sending sexually explicit photos to who he thought was an underage girl.
The mother of a 13-year-old girl contacted Conway police and stated that a man, later identified as 36-year-old Robert Johnson, had tried to pass her daughter his phone number as she walked to the bus stop on Tuesday.
The girl left the paper with his number on the ground but her mother retrieved it. The woman told officers she started texting the man as if she was her 13-year-old daughter.
According to her, over a two-day period, the man responded with sexually explicit text messages including a picture of his genitals. The picture prompted her to get police involved.
Detectives met with the mother and daughter on Thursday. Acting as the 13-year-old girl, a Conway Police Department detective contacted the man through text message.
Again, acting as the young girl, the detective told Johnson that he was 13-years-old. Although Johnson expressed concern that it might be a setup, he continued to send sexually explicit messages and even asked the girl to meet him.
Police arrested Johnson when he showed up to their designated meeting place. A search of his vehicle turned up other notes with his phone number on them.
He is charged with sexual indecency with a minor as well as internet stalking of a child and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is currently in the Faulkner Detention Center with no bond.
