LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission gave its final approval to the rules governing cultivators and dispensaries.

The rules were approved this week but must survive a review by lawmakers to go into effect by May 8.

Attorneys said a new change that ensures dispensaries and cultivation facilities are majority-owned by Arkansas residents could lead to a fight with the General Assembly. If all goes as planned, the application period for the facilities is expected to open July 1.
