FORT SMITH, Ark. (KTHV) - Fort Smith police are searching for two people who they say assaulted and robbed a 70-year-old man inside his home after helping him carry his groceries.
According to the Fort Smith Police Department, 29-year-old Dale Roberts and 30-year-old Nicole Standige are both suspects in the robbery.
Police say the man was hit on the back of his head numerous times and received a large cut and several fractures on one of his forearms.
The elderly man said he knew Standige through his son and that's why he felt comfortable enough to let them carry the groceries in for him.
Police say the man was then tied up with an electrical cord. That's when Roberts and Standige took cash, a debit card, a cell phone, and other items from the victim's home. The duo then left in his car, a silver KIA Soul with license plates EMA FZP.
The victim was able to get free soon after. He walked outside and a good Samaritan called the police for help.
Roberts and Standige have warrants out for their arrest. Their last known address was in Sallisaw. Police believe the two have ties to Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Florida.
If you have any information on their location, you are asked to contact the Fort Smith Police Department or your local police department.
