LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- This time of year can be a budget-buster for many families.
To try to help, the Clinton Center brought back its annual Head of the Class Bash Saturday morning. Piles and piles of backpacks, about 3,000 of them, stocked with supplies awaited the young people willing to wait in line for the giveaway.
Clinton Center organizers consider it a way of staying connected to the community.
“We want to help kids get ready for school. It's not an easy time. It's not a cheap time. Getting kids ready for school can be expensive so we try to alleviate part of that burden for parents,” said Rebecca Tennille, spokesperson for the Clinton Center.
Of course, it can be kind of a downer for the kids when they realize school is just a couple weeks away. So the Clinton Center included plenty of games and activities on the lawn outside the Clinton Library.
