LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) -- A Juneteenth celebration will be held in downtown Little Rock.
Juneteenth is a celebration of the end of slavery.
On June 17, 9th Street will be blocked off from Broadway to Izard for the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center's 7th annual Juneteenth celebration.
The celebration will be taking the form of a giant street festival. There will be over 80 different vendors set up all along 9th Street. There will be food vendors, games, a kid zone, writing contest, talent search, historic interpretations, musical guests, and more!
The celebration is June 17 from 12 p.m. until 6 p.m. The event is free.
In attendance this year will be the descendants of John Carter, a man that was lynched on 9th Street in 1927.
