Leslie Rutledge appeals medical marijuana ruling to Arkansas Supreme Court

After Judge Wendell Griffen ruled that the ranking of potential medical marijuana cultivators was "null and void," Attorney General Leslie Rutledge has officially appealed the ruling to the Arkansas Supreme Court.

After Judge Wendell Griffen ruled that the ranking of potential medical marijuana cultivators was "null and void," Attorney General Leslie Rutledge has officially appealed the ruling to the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Griffen ruled that two medical marijuana commissioners, Travis Story and Carlos Roman M.D., violated the "'appearance of bias' legal standard for administrative decision-making."

Both Story and Roman had previous interactions with people who had ownership interests in two different cultivators. Both Osage Creek Cultivation and Natural State Medicinals Cultivation finished in the top five.

The ruling also stated the Medical Marijuana Commission did not confirm if cultivation facilities were at least 3,000 feet from a public or private school, church, or daycare.

A spokesperson for Rutledge said she "disagrees with the circuit court and has appealed the ruling to the Arkansas Supreme Court."
