LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Saturday was a huge day in our annual THV11 Summer Cereal Drive, thanks to the Little Rock Fire Department, and you.
The firefighters held a "Stuff the Truck" event at two Kroger grocery stores Saturday.
The annual cereal drive gives needy kids a healthy breakfast while they're out of school. Our goal this year is pretty lofty at 500,000 boxes.
City officials who helped out Saturday saw a chance to brag on the city's firefighters for their efforts.
“It just shows how dedicated they are. I mean this is something that they put on and we just...it shows how dedicated they are to the city,” said Accounts Payable Supervisor for the city of Little Rock, Octavia Ashford.
They are still counting boxes and cash donations, but Ashford said it appeared they reached Saturday’s goal, describing it as a very good day. THV11 works with the Arkansas Foodbank on the drive. Our next big event is the "Little Rock-North Little Rock Cereal Showdown" on Tuesday.
