LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - The Little Rock Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting in West Little Rock.

Police say the shooting happened Wednesday afternoon at the Chick-fil-A restaurant at Chenal Parkway and West Markham.

The incident began at the Home Depot nearby where the suspect was in custody, but somehow escaped and ran towards the drive-thru of Chick-fil-A.

An officer chased the suspect and shot at him while the suspect was in the drive-thru trying to carjack someone. That's when a witness saw and purposefully rammed his Jeep into the vehicle the suspect took to stop them.

The officer shot the suspect in the arm and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

“The suspect was hit a couple of times, not sure how many times. He has been taken to one of our area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The victim of the carjacking has also been taken to the hospital. It didn’t appear that she had any injuries. She was just getting checked out as a precautionary measure,” said Little Rock Police Chief Kenton Buckner.

Hear from the man who drove his Jeep into the vehicle below:

“I was turning in here to go to Home Depot; there were police officers coming out and guns drawn. The car took off after some shots were fired and I positioned my truck in front of him to stop him. I don't know what all went on but I hope I did the right thing,” said Tim Lincoln, driver of the Jeep.

Holly Warner works right next to Chick-Fil-A at La Madeline's French Café. She said it was scary watching the situation unfold, but she was thankful the man in the jeep did what he did.

“There's not a lot of people out there like that that would put their life in danger for someone else and I think it's pretty amazing- it takes a lot guts in order to do something like that,” Warner said.
