Maryland Gov. Laryr Hogan didn't mince words at a press conference Tuesday afternoon after a school shooting in St. Mary's County, Maryland.
"We need more than prayers," Hogan said.
The governor was responding to the shooting at Great Mills High School in Lexington Park.
Hogan pushed for "emergency legislation" that would contribute approximately $125 million in school resources for the state of Maryland, such as metal detectors, school resource officers, and more cameras.
"We've only got less than three weeks left in the legislative session. And to me it's outrageous that we haven't taken action yet on something so important as school safety," Hogan said.
He praised the responsiveness of school resource officer Deputy Brent Gaskill, who confronted 17-year-old Austin Wyatt Rollins who police say was the school shooter.
"No community should ever have to go through this again," Hogan said.
Hogan also applauded the joint operations between the ATF, FBI, as well as state and local officials.
