LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – On Thursday, the Modern Medicaid Alliance launched a new education campaign with the overall message of ‘Medicaid Works.’
While political debates and policy discussions about health reform continue in Arkansas, the Modern Medicaid Alliance will educate policymakers and the public about the high value care Medicaid delivers, Medicaid’s innovative solutions that are saving taxpayer dollars and increasing coverage, and the need for Medicaid to remain a strong safety net for the people of Arkansas.
“Businesses and their employees need strong and robust healthcare options, especially in rural areas. It is also important that policies pursued by Congress are designed to reduce losses from uncompensated care, an area in which Medicaid plays an important role,” said Randy Zook, President and CEO of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce/Associated Industries of Arkansas. “There is no question that a healthier workforce is a more productive workforce. Arkansas businesses are benefitting from the contributions Medicaid is making to employee wellness, healthcare system stability, and insurance cost savings.”
The Modern Medicaid Alliance is kicking off a statewide campaign in Arkansas that includes:
-Organizing of Medicaid supporters, beneficiaries, and Modern Medicaid Alliance partners who will make the case to elected officials at all levels that Medicaid works
-A digital advertising campaign that communicates the tremendous value of the Medicaid program
-Featured stories and activities of how the modern Medicaid program provides solutions that improve health, save resources, and tell the story of beneficiaries whose lives have been improved by Medicaid.
-A media campaign highlighting beneficiary stories and innovative Medicaid programs that improve health and save money.
“Medicaid has been extremely important to Arkansas' health care delivery system,” said LaShannon Spencer, CEO of Community Health Centers of Arkansas. “It has reduced the number of low-income adults with no insurance, helped reduce cost, and offered better care options for many residents in Arkansas. We are excited to be a part of a great network of advocates whose mission is to help educate policymakers and the public about the benefits of Medicaid in Arkansas.”
The Modern Medicaid Alliance works as a collective group of organizations and grassroots members to educate policymakers and the public about the benefits of Medicaid to the American people and to highlight how Medicaid’s innovative solutions are helping those it serves.
