MAYFLOWER, Ark. (KTHV) - A section of U.S. Highway 65 previously closed due to an accident has reopened.

The highway was shut down on Monday afternoon after an 18-wheeler was hit by a train, knocked over and caught fire.

According to Chief Deputy Matt Rice with the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office, the train engineer saw the truck on the track. The train had time to slow down but still hit the truck, knocking it over on its side causing it to catch fire.

Chief deputy Rice told THV11 the truck was empty and the accident is at a spot without a crossing guard or lights.

No one was injured. It’s unclear how the truck got stuck on the tracks.
