Woman of the Year is quite a title, but one local group said Susan Hickingbotham deserves it.
Hickingbotham was honored on Saturday, Feb. 16 by Women and Children First. She had been a board member for Women and Children First, who spent much of her time volunteering and reading to children at the organization's daycare.
“Everything Susan does is out of the heart," Angela McGraw said, "she doesn't do anything for recognition for herself and so it's really been re-focusing for what our mission is for women and children first which is serving the victims."
Women and Children First is an organization that helps women and families affected by domestic violence. Aside from honoring a great volunteer, the gala is the organization's biggest fundraiser.
